What does the Lord want to teach us, to have us understand?  Lazarus had been dead for four days when Jesus finally came in answer to Martha and Mary’s prayerful request.  We hear their frustration and upset when they each greet him with the words, ‘Lord if you had been here’. Each of us has, at times, experienced this feeling, and perhaps used these words, in our own prayer. But He came to teach deeper lessons. Can we listen to the Teacher call us out of the dark places that hold us captive?  Through the words of John’s gospel and our lived experience let us listen to the teacher’s call to new life.
