Political Holiness: A Spiritual Journey

The expression political holiness has been coined by Salvadoran liberation theologian, Jon Sobrino, the priest shown in the photo. "Because of a new awareness of the misery and oppression of the majority of the human race," writes Sobrino, holiness can no longer be confined to the realm of "personal piety, contemplation or almsgiving." He argues that "the area of political action is (now) the right place to seek holiness." Art will present key ideas of Sobrino on the topic, invite sharing and dialogue, and discuss various ways of seeking holiness through political engagement.
